Music Albums Review: London Paris New York

Music Albums Review: London Paris New York: LPNY is written and directed by debutant Anu Menon and stars Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles. The film will release worldwide on 2 March 2012. Ali Zafar is the Music Composer, Lyricist, Singer and Lead Actor of the movie, London Paris New York (LPNY). Ali was good while singing “Madhubala” (Mere Brother Ki Dulhan) and Tere Bin Laden songs. But its about writing / composing / singing now and its a different challenge. Ali Zafar says, “I wanted to create sounds that are fresh and since the film touches on different emotions I could experiment with genres”.

Song 1: "London Paris New York" starts beautifully with female voice by Sunidhi Chauhan. The singing by Ali Zafar is good. The Hindi-English mixed lyrics will attract listeners . The song is peppy and good to hear.

Song 2: "Vo Dekhnay Mein" is the best song in the album. Ali Zafar created a soft and soothing romantic song with simple lyrics.  Most song is dominated by good piano tone.

Song 3: "Ting Rang" attempts to bring the Punjabi flavour with Dhol and western beats and harmonium. Ali's voice isn't so good for Punjabi tracks as Mika or Master Saleem's. Its video may add some flavor, but as an audio, it’s only an average.

Song 4: "Thehree Si Zindagi" is cool and nice track. Ali Zafar tries to sing like Atif Aslam! Aditi Rao Hydari is also nice as a lead playback singer. The lyrics are also first-class.

Song 5: "Oo Lala" is sung by Hadiqa Kiani and Sanam Marvi of Pakistan. The song starts after one minute of extensive orchestration. Then some Classical-Sufi notes, then English rap and then Ali Zafar's 20 seconds voice. The song is a big experimentation and sorry to say, it fails at the end.

Song 6: "Aaja" starts with a tale by heart-break actor followed by the drunken voice of Ali Zafar. It also has some Punjabi lyrics in it and is a very unusual type of track.

On an all, album has some nice songs but loses its way somewhere. Some songs can be said as an overdose by Ali Zafar to bring more variety.
Best Songs:  “Thehree Si Zindagi” and “Vo Dekhnay Mein”
Overall Rating of the album: 3.2 out of 5.
